Looking at Project 16 in the "101" book it would appear to me that all I need do is lock down the cam shafts after getting the crank to TDC and then just replace the tensioners. Or, do I have to go through all the steps of removing the cam housing, cams, chains, etc.?

you need to get the crank to top dead center on the firing stroke and lock it with a pin. then put the correct cam tool on cyl 1-3 to lock the cams. 5 chain is the sing le cam lock tool, 3 chain is the dual cam lock tool. then you can remove the tensioners
