If you are into boat rides get over to the channel islands.
Ventura is a few minutes away... walk down main st. lots of great food and shopping.
Ventura harbor/marina is great place (also for food and shopping)... technically closer to Oxnard than downtown Ventura.
Ojai, very cool artist town just up the canyon.
I vacation in Morro bay a lot... but plenty to do where you are unless you are looking for a road trip
