I think one of the things that is happening is a change in consumption/delivery of information.

With CrackBerries it was all about mail. Not a big deal.

These days it's about staying connected thru so many channels it's almost unrealistic to try and stay on top of it manually.

So fetch has turned to push.

Push uses juice.

Blame the youth. We curmudgeons are really not the target audience.
