My wife actually read the part about no rental cars while we were in the middle of the trip. And, what a LONG trip it was. I had no idea! I remember when the road actually opened up where we could get some speed going. I was doing about 50 to 60 barreling downhill on that crushed lava rock road. We hit a cattle grate and the car must have come three feet off the ground after bottoming out so hard we hit our heads on the roof. I told her that if this car dies out here we're going to just push it off a cliff.
