The point being - it's harder and harder to find law enforcement officers who are old school and exercise good judgement. I'm not saying because an officer issues a ticket he is or isn't a good cop. I'm just saying Vogel was very fair and earned respect by giving respect and exercising what I deem to be good judgement.
Anyway - please convey my best to your friend and mentor - that's a nice post to honor his service....

RAre now but they are around. a few weeks ago, a traffic cop got me with a speed gun. He saw me come around this gardener's truck doing 20 in a 35 zone. He caught doing 43mph in my S2000. I tole him I just wanted to get around this guy who was driving extremely slow. He smile and told me "I know, I saw you" Slow down and wrote me with no proof of insurance. I was not going to kick and scream about that. My lucky day.
