My dad-in-law is a photographer. I'm not so interested in magazine quality shots, but here is what he has told me:
keep the sun to your back.
If the sun is out you must analize all the shadowing.
Slight overcast is good.
Background - your car is the focus so use plain background. One of the best shots I have is of my last 911, a 73T widebody. The background is an old gey brick building. If I can find that picture I'll post it (I have a scanner now - yipeeee!).
