the top was close to fitting in the front so i lowered it into place to match up with the rain gutters. it was not a perfect match. the coupe roof seemed about a quarter of an inch wider than the cab/targa a-pillars. but i also noticed that the sheet metal was sagging a bit in the front center of the roof. i hoped i could get it straightened out or i should say curved out more.
i cleaned up the inside of the roof where it would sit over the quarter panels to remove any vertical sheet metal. that way it would sit flush on the targa body.
on the c-pillars i started cutting away what i knew would not stay. i made sure to only cut a bit off at a time. i figured i could always grind away more as it came closer to fitting it all together.
i tried to use a plasma cutter to expedite things but only succeeded in filling my garage with toxic smoke from burnt paint and charcoaled undercairage goo. but it was definitely coming together. total cost to date $500+$6 supplies.
