The state has a list of docs willing to do these evaluations. Then all the patient's medical records are sent to the selected QME doctor. The doctor reviews the medical records in advance (I spent 4 hours doing so over last weekend for this one) and then evaluates the patient. The report written serves as a "final word" on what care the patient gets.

That's the theory. This guy didn't show up. So his 45 minute time slot came and went. At least I can send a list of medical records reviewed and get paid $250/hr for that. Can't bill for the time allotted for the missed appointment, though. I imagine the attorneys involved will make the guy reschedule.
I assume you have some sort of private enterprise, Noah? Or is it just this kind of evaluations you get payed for personally?
