Yesterday I saw a geophysical survey being done on Los Osos Valley Road. A fault line runs right along the road (below the surface) and is responsible for hills near there.
The "geophysical survey" means they had 4 big trucks each with a hydraulic base they could extend down, then run a shaking machine to send vibrations into the ground to make a SONAR image of the fault.
I could feel the vibrations from where I was about 40 feet away.
They are doing this to learn more about the fault because they have Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power plant in Morro Bay, 12 miles from Cal Poly.
