Actually that is not the case...the "antique" cars / parts ARE exempt from duty. There is a thread on here (importing cars) that has it explained very well...I took advantage of this when I brought over a car in the fall.



philip...my recommendation to you is not to worry about the duty thing right now...just pay whatever and get the engine home. Once you do, THEN start the process of getting a refund.


All you have to do is provide your blue customs form showing the duty paid, fill out the refund form and send it in.
