My car is inside North Scottsdale Porsche right now for the same reason. It can only be 2 things. There is a cable that goes from the starter to the alternator, if it has any type of corrosion on it there will be resistance when tested or your starter is showing the beginning of a slow death.
Mine took a year always started with a cold engine but would not crank with a hot engine.
