The tower would never call it height. Altitude. And if they had radar they would have the position relative to the tower. You would need to know position relative to what point. Not all planes have GPS so a Piper cub would not know where they were other than about a mile away from the river and near the big tree. More likely the tower would be asking for heading and altitude.
