Black looks good (I used to have them on my 951 that way). They look even better on a car with graphics (race/track). I'm on the fence right now W.R.T. my '89. I like the clean look but they are functional. I have a supply of clear vinyl that I can cut to the proper shape (templates easy to make) and install so they'll be pretty much invisible.

Anything looks better than old/ratty-looking/weathered stoneguards. Replace with clear or black - your choice. I wouldn't leave them off - Porsche put 'em there for a reason.
