You have to be inovative. In '63 a H.S. buddy & I drove across the US to NYC. We were put up by his grandfather (rich) who had standing accounts at the best restaurants, the theaters, and a box at the race track. He told us to just put meals, theater tickets, etc. on his accounts. One time we went into a fancy restaurant and the guy inside that greeted us told us we needed to wear jackets if we were to eat there. As California guys, we naturally had no shame. We looked around and saw the bus boys wearing a sort of uniform jacket for the restaurant. We told the guy to give us a couple of bus boy jackets. He did, we put them on and he led us to a table.
