Every gun I own says "do not shoot reloads" in the manual. Every gun I own shoots reloads. I think it's more to limit the manufacturers liability when someone does something stupid reloading.
When it comes to .50 BMG, there aren't many people who can afford to shoot only virgin loads. I usually pick up a few spent (non-Berdan) cases at every gun show. Every else I reload in batches of 100, .50 BMG I reload in batches of 10.
Oh, and I should get around to getting a .50 BMG rifle one of these days. (I'm about a third of the way there...)
