I believe that most people that I know are pushing their hardware to the limits of what it will do. I can believe that most hits on a website are of vga type resolution numbers.
I was once told that if I bought a camera for e-bay type work it made a lot more sense to look for one that could provide good close in work and could focus at very short distances than it was to get one that could provide very high resolution. The reasoning was, that people hitting websites wanted the pics to load fast. The ability to focus at close distance was to provide good detail for the pics for people to make buying decisions.
However, I'm still looking for the ideal camera.
Good luck,
