I worked for a place in Texas that ran this gambit. The "random pool" gave them a pretty good feedback!
Jump ahead a few months and Texas Monthly was doing their best employers in the state survey. Hey, a truly random opportunity to tell the truth! Yep, they finished ALMOST at the bottom of the list and were published (embarrassingly) by Texas Monthly. Became harder to hire good people after that fiasco...
