I know some of you have been lucky enough to see him perform... he was one of the greats... played with Howlin' Wolf.
Hubert Sumlin, a prolific blues guitarist with ties to Shreveport, has died of heart failure, according to news reports and local friends.
Sumlin, who just turned 80, gained blues fame as a guitarist for the legendary Howlin' Wolf from around 1954 to 1976, and in more recent years gained stature as a headliner in his own right, died Sunday in a hospital in Wayne, N.J., according to friend Bruce Flett.
