I find that while your server may be quite responsive, content from other sites sometimes hangs or takes quite a while to load, which can block the page from loading properly.

Whether it's a remote ad server, or Google Analytics, it can sometimes require a refresh to load properly. Sometimes it can just be the initial DNS resolution that hangs things.
