UPDATE; Problem found

Today I got off work early so came home and started looking over the truck. I put the key in the ignition then popped the hood. I went to the drivers side battery first ( two in a diesel ) and wiggled the positive battery cable. BINGO ! I heard the ignition bell going off. Looked in the truck and the dome light was on. I turned the key and the glow plug light came on. When it went off I turned the key and vrooom she fired right up . Turns out the positive battery cable clamp has some corrosion where the bar holds the exposed cable wires into the clamp and it's loose. So I'm going to buy a new end and replace. I'll go ahead and dip the exposed wire in baking soda solution to get it clean and will coat with battery corrosion gel before installing the new clamp. The passenger side looks good but it uses the smaller cable ends with the bolt through the center. Man I'm glad I lucked out. Thanks to all that chimed in with suggestions.
