This is a total power disconnect somewhere in the charging system. It will wind up being something simple but hard to diagnose from here. One battery "going bad" would not cause this but a bad ground or connection somewhere would. If you don't want to get it towed in somewhere, get on a Duramax board and ask the same question/tell the story. Good luck.
