Bought my wife a fire. She's no power user but she loves it. Surfs, shops, email/facebook, and watches movies. Great $200 device. On the movie thing, I asked her "You wanted 55 inch TVs everywhere and now you're walking around with a TV in your hand, WTF?" Anyway, it's good enough for her that she seldom opens her laptop now.
AS for the critics?
"The critics may have a point, I had a flat tire on my car, My Kindle was right by my side but it had no jack or spare tire so what good was it.
Another time my power went out at home and I was late for work. I had my Kindle with me the whole time but I was still late.
I could go on but if you don't get the point ... a Kindle or any other tablet is beyond your skill set."
