It has been a while since I owned one - but I loved both of the ones I owned, and their longevity seemed very good.
I had an 87 Coupe which I put 150K on and had almost no repairs other than the stupid digital dash.
I sold it with about 180k and it had a bad ring - but no other problems (in hindsite I should have rebuilt the engine and kept the car because I loved it.
I then had a 1991 90 Quattro. Which I also liked very much - but didn't have more than a year or so. It was totaled in an 18 car pile-up. My wife and I walked away without a scratch - but the car was toatled.
NOSTATIC - knowing you - I'm sure you drove everything around. How did it compare to a 740?
