statistically, and this should please noah930 as to the reasons for the law, persons using a cell phone are as bad or worse at driving as someone DUI. ban them.

just yesterday i was behind some tool in a mini van, all over the lane, making weird random slow-downs and near-stops. at the intersection he stopped in the turning lane, with his right side wheels one foot over the white line, in my lane, and on a green arrow.... sure enough, this guy was on his phone, talking, not even texting. this guy was probably mid-forties. disaster waiting to happen.

i see this all the time. as i am sure everyone here does.
