We are talking about real world applications (where we drive our 928s)
If the oil is continuously overheated yes it will thicken as the lightends are driven off
( evaporated).But the temperature at which the low number is given is for approx -20 F or about -30C. At these temperatures I recommend your favorite chair , Jack Daniels and a roaring fire.
