Does anyone have a lead on buying direct from the various auctions? I'm in the northeast, but have no objection to buying from some distance away to save cash and find a rust free car.

Sorry Vin, I don't always log in to check my PM's!
There are quite a few LR3 and RRs out there, but the ones you'd tend to want are off-lease units and those are now typically 2008-2009. I will not buy a Land Rover or Range Rover at the auction from another dealer. Simply too many "bad ones" out there, and that's sometimes why dealers are dumping them at auction.
In your stated price range you'll find a V8 LR3 2006-2007 with a little over 75K miles, or a 2005 RR HSE with the same.
Simply stated, buy one you can see, touch, drive, and inspect. Don't buy one at auction unless it's such a "good deal" that you can set aside $3000 to fix the little things that weren't disclosed.
Let me know if you'd like any other info or data, or comparisons to other choices for that money
