A broken ring land would not cause any of the damage to the head or top of piston you are seeing. Yes, it has a broken ring land. (As well as a lot of other damage). But that is collateral damage and has nothing to do with the cause of all this. I'm looking for the cause. WDfifteen is the only one who has come close. Do you guys need more hints? It's apparently a very common failure on these. That makes it easy for anyone with google.
