Dave, San Diego is amazing with the close proximity of everything. When the Porsche Club had parade there a few years ago we had the final banquet fancy sit down dinner on the deck of the Midway. Where else in the world can you plan a fancy dinner for several hundred people outdoors at night?
We had the presidents dinner on the Star of India. That is a cool ship especially with free beer being served.
