If it weren't for one missed field goal, Boise state would have been in the BCS championship game. At least they could have made a game of it.

Last night Herbstreit and Musburger commented on the number of games lost by field-goals and it was staggering. I remember thinking during the first LSU-Bama game "can't they recruit better field-goal kickers???" and Sammy's right, the kickers will be the focal point for recruiting across the nation. My hat's off to Les Miles for thinking outside the box and getting a punter from Australia which leads me to believe we're going to see more of this in the future.
The two teams I would have loved to see play in the championship against LSU would have been OSU or Stanford, but they blew their chances; OSU choked against Iowa State (a 6-7 team) and Standford choked against Oregon, which logically put Alabama into the championship game. After watching the pathetic display of defense (they couldn't tackle the waterboy if they had to) when Stanford lost to OSU, it would have been a shame to allow them to play in NOLA. LSU lost because they were not prepared.....they were over confident and didn't put forth the effort preparing for the game, but Alabama did. This one is in the history books.
As far as Boise State is concerned, they don't have to go through an elaborate scheme to get into the SEC.....they just need to make some calls and schedule a game or two against an SEC team (sorry, Vanderbilt doesn't count). Oregon played LSU and Bama played Penn State so if they want to be taken as a serious contender, just pick-up the phone!
