Doesn't sound like the oil.
Measure the resistance between your battery and your starter.
Compare the to your street car.
After that ??? -- measure the torque required to turn the crank, maybe something is binding up?
Hate to suggest to pull the plugs on both and compare.....
maybe disengage the tranny (just cause it's easier than pulling the clutch)
and see if that helps.
