If you attended a Catholic school for 12 yrs. like I did - instead of a gov't school - the nuns wouldn't have allowed these mistakes.
However, I still have to think before I use "lay" or "lie". 
One of my ex-gfs used to enjoy correcting me.

Another one: exscape instead of escape.

Amazing how many TV anchor folks use improper English.
