Maybe it's because I'm an engineer that I just can't seem to leave well enough alone, but here I am, on the eve of starting this project and I realize that I have to rebuild my gearbox. And, of course, if I'm gonna rebuild it, I might as well change a few things.
So I graphed out the speed in gears for the crazy thing, and, frankly, I just don't get it. Although, it's easy to see from the graph why 3rd gear is so much fun. Take a look.
From here, I don't know what. But at the very least, I now understand the 'box a little better. And, of course, I realize how utterly inappropriate these gears are for a big power v8 car.
RPM on the left, speed at the bottom. 6000 rpm shift point.
