Using the Porsche Excellence price range for an '88 cabrio (low:$23,200, high:$31,100) I was slightly closer to the high end (28k), but I felt good about it because:

- It was a black Turbo Look, which is exactly what I wanted
- The condition was very good, and I love the car

I spent 8+ years looking for the right car, and encountered a lot of cars for sale that were way out of the range, but didn't sell. So I came to agree with the price ranges listed in Excellence magazine. Plus, if you find the exact car you want, and walk away if its a little over the going price, you might regret it for years. I think many people will continue to treat the 87-89 G50 Carrera as a very desirable car, and the market will reflect that.
I also bought an '88 Cabrio the middle of last year. Red w. black top and champagne interior with sport seats. Exterior is perfect (California car) w/73k miles and very well sorted. Interior is good except it could use a freshening. paid $25k. I also was looking for the better part of a decade. Finding good ones is getting harder and harder...and one without a tail seems harder yet. I would have liked a silver coupe, but they seem to be elusive in good condition.
