If you enjoy doing your own work, and you're in college (like me), you could look at Arnnworx.com. He sells a couple of belt tensioning tools that replace the Porsche 9201 tool without sacrificing precision and peace of mind (if you're into that kind of thing). I bought the 920x kit that comes with all the tools you need to work on the front of the engine (thin wrench, pin wrench, flywheel lock, belt gauge) for replacing seals and rollers too. There's a new tool now for tensioning the belt that I haven't looked at.

Anyway, all this is to say that the tools can be had if you're able to find a space to work on the car while at school, or if you don't live far from home (for planned maintenance like belt changes and tensioning).

Otherwise, something simple like tensioning the belts turns into a major payout to a Porsche shop!
