Very well written piece. I loved baseball as a kid..listening to the games on my 5 tube bedroom radio... Stan was indeed "The man".
(edit) I've only seen one major league game in my life. The old Yankee Stadium, summer of 1957, a side trip for us who went to the BSA Jamboree that year. Man...I got to see Whitey Ford pitch!
