Ahhh welcome to the world of dealing with Porsche.

Ever notice you can go to just about any FLAPS or for that matter, Wal-Mart and buy stuff with Chevy, Dodge logos on it. Also notice that you never see Porsche, VW, BMW or Mercedes?

Ever notice that you never see a crest on this site? (except on Porsche licenced merchandise and pictures posted by users) Personally I am amazed that the little Porsche crest icon in the new post/reply window manages to survive.

German companies in general, and Porsche in particular, are VERY protective of their copyrights and trademarks. They, literally have lawyers that do little more than look for possible copyright violations. They also tend to be very conservative as to what constitutes a violation (example: Poorsche.com or a shop called XXX Por Shop are considered violations and got cease and desist letters) Arguably, you could probably fight some of it, but the legal costs involved would be too great - it is cheaper to change a name than fight.

Each victory only strengthens Porsche's position.

Last I heard, it is somewhere around $20000 USD to display the crest in your place of business - per year.

Unauthorized distribution of anything to do with Porsche is inviting a nasty lawsuit.
