Sure you can. A central nervous system hit with just about anything will drop them (or anything else) like a sack of potatoes. Brain 'em or sever the spine and it's game over.

Three wheeled bears run just fine. I've seen them do it. I've shattered the entire shoulder joint on a couple of occasions (.30-'06 with a 200 grain Partition at 2,600 fps once, and .375 H&H with a 300 grain Partition at 2,500 fps once), and they had no trouble running off. Both died, of course, but it took them several minutes. They had plenty of time (and speed) left to really ruin our day, if they were so inclined. Hell, they can crawl faster than we can run.
