Below 3000 rpm, there's not much there. From 3000 to 5500 rpm, it's stout. That explains your driving impressions.
OTOH, all the V8s in this class make more power from 1500 rpm than the V6s make peak
(exception the Ford 3.5L EcoBoost which makes more than the V8s at low rpm!!!)
