Brey Krause has a pretty nice mount that attatches to the front of the passenger seat and keeps the extinguisher out of the way but easy to get to.
As for type of extinguisher, if you really want to put the fire out an ABC rated dry chemical is what you want. If you just want to feel warm and fuzzy about having an extinguisher and can't stand the thought of creating a mess go for a Halon or Haltron type. They promise no mess, but don't do near as good of job at extinguishing a fire.
