Us Americans have been use to low gas prices for a long time. We have plenty of it here and all sorts of natural gas and coal. It is time we drive more efficient cars, however. I don't understand why the big auto makers keep making Mustangs and Cameros with 500 and 600 Hp motors. I see VW has a car getting 50 mpg, a drive range of 550 miles! I guess Porsche was not doing too bad in 1986 with the 928 getting 20 mpg. I guess the market here will dictate what cars we buy in the future. I don't think electric cars are the answer yet, but very effecient gas and deisel is the way to go for now until a better fuel is developed.
