Dean, looking at light pollution maps you are very fortunate. I just started going down the telescope 'rabbit hole' but with a modest investment I think you'd find you can see virtually any celestial object you point at. If I ever plan on driving by there, I hope you don't mind but I just might remember to tote the 'not so portable' telescope with me.
