I prefer the lwb cars (and 72's in particular) but that is a personal preference. My sense is that the swb is attractive to a segment of the market for two distinct reasons: First, it is in some ways considered more"pure" in it's form. The narrow body design, the rawness of the driving experience and the overall simplicity of the car are considered by many to be the "essence" of the 911. Secondly, the earlier cars are eligible for certain vintage racing classes, both here and in Europe, that later cars are not, so for those who want to participate in certain events, a swb is necessary.
