S1000 Mirrors on Hp2 Sport

Ok here I go again. I posted the video showing the S1000 mirrors on the Sport and really liked the way that they look. You know like stock BMW. A couple of guys on the BMWSR site said that they did the conversion but no pics yet.
I was having some reservations about drilling more holes in the CF especially 11mm holes.
After reading LCP's comments about if they work why would you ever go back to the stockers I decided to take the plunge and order some mirrors and the decouplers.
The decouplers are essentially a rubber insulation and actually require drilling about a 13mm hole. I decided that I would not go this route. The S1000 fairing is very flexible and BMW ties the mirror mounts to the nose fairing. Quite the opposite with the stiffness of the Sports CF nose piece.
Got a call this week letting me know that my mirrors ready for pickup. After the good guy discount, was $160 out the door.
Doing some measurements it appears like the mirrors will be about 5-6 inches wider total then the stockers.
Still having the drill apprehensions I had another idea. See if I could take the brand new mirror apart so I could make a new lower section that has the same bolt pattern as the original mirrors. What was there to lose? Ruin a brand new mirror?
I drilled out the rivet that holds the tension mechanisim together. Was not too tough and pulled out the wave springs leaving the center pivot that needed to be punched out.
This is a totally doable alternative to modfying the faring. I am going to start the CAD modeling essentially copying the original brackets upper section and making a longer lower section. Probably make it out of aluminum or maybe make a mold to cast it. Depends on how many I make. I think that I will offer some new mirrors that are modified and ready to bolt on if anyone is interested.
Not sure exactly what the cost will be yet, but let me know. Might take a month to get the drawings completed in my spare time but I will post updates as they arise.
