Maybe he didn't know crap about flying a plane. I know if it had been me, I wouldn't have known what the alarm was for (and I would assume that the pilot did and was aware), and I wouldn't want to distract the pilot in the middle of a landing. Now if the alarm had been a voice saying "the landing gear aren't down!!", then I may have been willing to get the pilot's attention.
