Back in '01 or '02 when PPBB was going strong, one of the members had an off-road excursion and rolled his Boxster with the top down. He was fairly tall and did get some nasty looking scalp injuries but the windshield header and roll bar combo clearly saved his life. So yeah, it's for more than 'show.'
