My local Chev dealer (non-negotiating) offers a new 2012 Chev Silverado 1500 Crew LS 4x4 (4.8L, HD trailering) $36,810 MSRP for $28,654. 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for sale in Fridley - 3GCPKREA9CG197328 – Friendly Chevrolet
Most of the others are about $6,000 off MSRP after incentives. That would put a comparably equipped 2WD to about $26K transaction price.

If an out-of-bumper-to-bumper-warranty 2008 is $24K, I can't see why anyone would buy a used one. Especially given the low cost of money.

Even at $29K new and $24K used, wouldn't it be worth $1250 a year to have a brand new truck? It would be a no-brainer for me.

Of course, I'd just buy a used 2008 with 120K miles for next to nothing
