Would one of the conditions you have outline also make it run hot? Usually lean is hot....but hot enough that it shows a significant difference on the temp gauge?
I can get it to the second bar (120 deg celcius) in moderatley aggressive driving on a 60 degree day. I have just switched (last night) to the number guage and 300 degree sender to see if it's my guage and to keep a more prcise eye on it.
