Set a static ip address.
From Start hit run, type cmd
When command line comes up type ipconfig
Look for your current IP/Subnet/default gateway info
Then go Start->Control Panel->Netwrok Connections->Local Area Connection double click
In the list scroll down to Internet Protocol, highlight and hit properties.
Check "Use the following IP address."
Assign an IP address based on the one you got from ipconfig, example; if ipconfig gave you 192.168.1.3 use 192.168.1.30 as it's high enough to not conflict with any other dynamic addresses on your network.
Subnet and default gateway will be same as derived from ipconfig.
