"If you want to make money collecting things, buy Colt guns and Ford cars"! Dave is right, you will have to be very unlucky to ever lose money on a Colt pistol or revolver. A couple of examples: Colt Commander manuf. in 1951 in .38 Super, bought in 1987 for $325, today would bring around $1,000 or so. Colt 2nd model Woodsman Match Target, bought in 1995 for $575 today is worth about $1500. In addition to increasing in value, think of the fun you will have at the shooting range and the comfort you will have when carrying it! Another brand that is almost certain to increase in value would be Winchester. Early Model 70 rifles, Model 12 shotguns and pre-64 lever guns are all 5 star investments. I traded a 1 ounce Kugerand gold coin for a fancy 20 gauge Model 12 a couple of years ago and haven't regretted the swap for a second.
