If your engine leaks oil onto the straight section of the three pipes it will happily make its way into the air chambers. Or someone badly spilled oil while filling oil without a funnel. I had engine degreaser/water getting in there resulting in some funky white smoke for the first 10 minutes. Scared me to death first.

I would try to clean it out with lot's of hot water and degreaser. Otherwise it'll make its way into the cabin when you turn your heat on...
